Mission

GTP's mission is to be a foundation for athletic, professional, and social development. We empower athletes to engage the community in philanthropy by raising funds for scholarships and grants aligned with their career goals beyond being an athlete. Currently our longterm goals are related to (1) increasing enrollment ratios in secondary schools worldwide and (2) breaking down gender parity barriers in schools worldwide. We believe athletes are a key fulcrum point upon which to leverage this social change, largely and simply because of their natural position as leaders in their communities.

Purpose

GTP empowers athletes to engage the community through philanthropy as a part of their overall career development timeline. We incentivize athletes to particpate in philanthropy through the coordination of scholarships, grants, and other financial incentives, philanthropic efforts, and scientific research.

Vision

Ideally, GTP hopes athletes will pursue activities that are most closely aligned with their career goals beyond being an athlete.

In the long term, GTP aspires to drive cross-border market-driven solutions through (1) long-term leadership development and educational opportunity support of athletes from developing communities and (2) leadership development and increased awareness of global inequalities, advocacy, and philanthropy for athletes from developed communities through athletic and market-driven volunteer opportunities.

Through the global athletic community, GTP hopes to satisfy the interests of United Nations in (a) facilitating and coordinating the provision of core competencies of “capacity building” and (b) implementing private sector strategy through the Inclusive Market Development (IMD) approach.

GTP believes that integrating athletic programs into educational institutions will have a wider impact on encouraging youth to stay in school and equalize gender parity issues as well.

Through our Scholarships, Grants, Loans, and Social-Impact Bonds, GTP is geared towards coordinating resources to empower athletes in developing communities to establish social exchanges and social business models. Through long-term leadership, educational, and professional development support of athletes outside and beyond sports, GTP strives to have a high impact on social issues by fostering the development of tomorrow’s leaders in business, organizations, and institutions.

We use high-engagement, on-the-ground marketing by organizing localized Career Fairs and also, through our Non-Profit Volunteer Activities, by empowering high school, university, Olympic and professional-level athletes to engage the community and corporations through existing social outreach programs and services that match the personal interests or unique career goals of athletes. Localized efforts will be coordinated by one or more people from a network of internationally-based volunteers who are pursuing a career outside of playing a sport. (Learn more about our Regional Associate role and other roles by going to www.teamplayers.org/volunteer.) The magnitude and scale we hope to reach is global.

GTP believes empowering athletes to engage the community and corporations in community development efforts, via philanthropy or social entrepreneurship, will leverage our ability to achieve the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) as identified through UNICEF's MICS Surveys. (Read more about GTP's efforts to research these issues by going to www.teamplayers.org/unicef.) GTP is particularly focused on increasing secondary school enrollment.
